Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool
Barra Steel had been subcontracted to do the structural steel fabrication work for the Carnegie swimming pool by ADCO Constructions. The Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool has been a much-loved part of Glen Eira for more than 50 years. The project has been a major challenge in terms of the construction category. As this is a CC3 job, the detailing was quite technical. The total tonnage of this was almost 200T, with all being a special coat paint system.
Our team designed square hollow round section trusses, which were bolted and fabricated at approximately 15 metres in length. The trusses varied in width from 1.2 metres to 2.4 metres and in height from 1.5 metres to 1.8 metres and weighed 3-5 tonnes.
Barra Steel supplied 100T tonne to be on site. All scissor lifts and boom lifts with a lifting study were supplied by Barra Steel as a part of the project.
